History of Abundance Pure Pashminas
The idea of Abundance was born in 2011 during a visit to Ladakh. We began by supporting goat grazers in high Ladakh and the shawl weavers in Kashmir on a very small scale. Buying their produce and finding then markets.
Recognising that the art of shawl weaving and hand embroidery were on the decline, and that there was a need to revive and promote the art and craft of Pashmina weaving, Abundance Enterprises made a formal beginning in 2017.
Around the same time, we started volunteering for street animal welfare, and felt the need to mobilise resources for this noble endeavour.
We realised that promoting Pashmina crafts would not only generate value for the grazers and weavers, but also support us in our welfare activities. We found this to be a win-win situation.
You may be happy to note that a significant proportion of our sale proceeds is deployed for street animal welfare, from accident rescue to vaccinations and sterilisation.
Going forward and as we grow, we have plans on the board to support our war widows (Veer Naris) and martyrs’ families.
